Andrea Pavarino
Clinical Psychologist
MPsych (Clinical), Dott. Mag. Psic. Clin. e di Comunità
Andrea is a clinical psychologist with many years of experience supporting people through life’s challenges. He decided to become a therapist out of a deep interest in understanding human emotions and relationships, and a belief in people’s capacity for growth and healing when they feel supported and understood. Over time, this interest developed into a career dedicated to helping individuals work through difficulties such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship struggles.
Andrea’s therapeutic style is collaborative and respectful. He draws on evidence-based approaches, including psychodynamic therapy, schema therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, and intensive short-term dynamic psychotherapy (ISTDP). He believes therapy is not about applying one model to everyone, but about working together to understand what each person needs in order to move forward. While some people come to therapy looking for short-term relief, others wish to explore deeper, long-standing issues. Andrea works flexibly across this spectrum, tailoring his approach to each client’s goals.
He has particular interest in the role of emotions and relationships in mental health. Much of his work is focused on helping people face painful feelings safely, make sense of past experiences, and build healthier ways of relating to themselves and others. His clients often describe him as thoughtful, compassionate, and gently encouraging, with a style that balances support with honest reflection.
Andrea has extensive experience in community mental health and not-for-profit organisations, providing both individual therapy and group programs. He is also a board-approved supervisor, offering clinical supervision and consultation to psychologists and other mental health professionals.
Fluent in both English and Italian, Andrea is well placed to support people from diverse cultural backgrounds, including those adjusting to life in a new country. He has a particular interest in the emotional impact of migration and cultural transition, and helps clients navigate the challenges of identity, belonging, and connection that can arise in these experiences.
Andrea is committed to ongoing learning and professional development. He values working alongside clients in a genuine and collaborative way, helping them to not only reduce distress, but also to create more fulfilling and meaningful live.
