Mark Guindy

Provisional Psychologist

Mark is a Provisional Psychologist completing his Master of Clinical Psychology.   Before his clinical training, Mark spent over eight years working in forensic and correctional settings, providing individual therapy and facilitating group-based psychological programs with adults and young adults. His work primarily drew on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to address offending behaviour, emotional regulation, and interpersonal challenges. He also served as a National Crisis and Hostage Negotiator, where he developed advanced skills in de-escalation, active listening, and supporting people in high-stress situations.

Mark has a particular interest in psychodynamic and trauma-informed approaches, exploring how early experiences shape emotional patterns and coping strategies. He is also developing his knowledge and practice in Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP). As a bilingual Arabic and English speaker, Mark provides culturally responsive therapy and supports Arabic-speaking clients who may face barriers to help-seeking.

He is passionate about working collaboratively with clients to achieve insight and clarity into the patterns underlying their difficulties, aiming to foster meaningful and lasting change. Mark works with people at all stages of the cycle of change, including those experiencing depression, anxiety, stress, perfectionism, difficulties with alcohol or substance use, life adjustments, antisocial attitudes, and emotional regulation challenges. He has a particular interest in men’s mental health and in helping men explore and express emotions safely and constructively.
