Maryam Farache
She/her
Provisional Psychologist
BPsychSc, GDipPsych(Adv), & MProfPsych
My passion for psychology stems from firsthand experience seeing those around me struggle with mental health diagnoses and disabilities while I was growing up. Witnessing the stigma and negative reactions within my Middle Eastern culture and community motivated me to advocate for change in how mental health and disability are viewed and treated. I also offer therapy in Arabic (eastern).
I have clinical experience working with children who face behavioral challenges, particularly those diagnosed with Autism or ADHD, and individuals with intellectual disabilities. My work extends to various settings, including primary schools, and I also provide support to parents dealing with the challenges of parenting these children.
Over the years, I have worked extensively in the field of disability and the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). My roles have included mental health support work, applied behavior analysis, and most recently, serving as a positive behavior support practitioner.
I have a particular interest in working with trauma and personality disorders, and experience working with a range of presentations, including anxiety, depression, burnout, stress management, bereavement, PTSD, and sleep problems.
