Our Mission: helping people achieve meaningful change
Welcome to Dynamic Psychotherapy, a private psychology practice. Dynamic Psychotherapy is located in the heart of Carlton, Melbourne. We are a team of clinical psychologists, psychologists and counselors dedicated to facilitating transformative change through evidence-based and person-centred therapeutic interventions.
Practice Director Julie Cochrane has been practicing ISTDP since 1995, She founded Dynamic Psychotherapy in Carlton, Victoria, with the aim of bringing the benefits of ISTDP to as many people as possible.
Our Philosophy
At Dynamic Psychotherapy, we believe that mental health is more than the absence of illness—it’s about achieving a state of overall well-being.
Our practice is grounded in the principles of Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP), a method that values the healthy experience and expression of emotions as core components of mental health. We are the largest ISTDP practice worldwide.
Dynamic Psychotherapy practitioners have experience in a range of approaches in addition to ISTDP, including CBT, DBT, EMDR, schema therapy, interpersonal psychotherapy, and psychoanalytic psychotherapy.
Our Director, Clinical Psychologist Julie Cochrane, is Australia’s most experienced practitioner of Intensive Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP).
Julie has been practising ISTDP since 1995, and teaches ISTDP to therapists in Australia, and internationally in many countries.
We’re here to help.
We invite you to reach out and begin your journey towards psychological well-being. Our historic practice buildings offer a serene and welcoming environment for healing and growth. Let’s work together to achieve the change you seek.
